Administrative – MS Office and Salesforce

The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union, AFL-CIO, is a proud trade association whose beginnings go back to the 1890s. We currently represent 120,000 members in North America and we are offering an excellent opportunity to support the cause of this great labor union. This full-time administrative position is located at the headquarters office at 1750 New York Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20006.

Summary of Job Duties:

  • Use Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook daily.
  • Create slides for presentations with PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Salesforce a plus.
  • Perform administrative tasks in a membership database.
  • Assist end-users with using the membership database system, (e.g. access problems, enter data, make changes).
  • Provide administrative support.
  • Maintain files and records; scan and save to cloud.
  • Work independently, multi-task, meet deadlines.
  • Compose correspondence, such as letters, memos, and emails, with little guidance or supervision.
  • Various projects and other duties as assigned.


  • Must be extremely reliable and prompt; hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Mon-Fri.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have experience using Salesforce.
  • Must be generally highly computer literate.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness in completing tasks.
  • Customer service experience with a member organization, such as a trade assoc. a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must possess solid foundation of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Professional telephone etiquette.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working in a Cloud Environment preferred.
  • High school diploma; some college preferred – Degree NOT required.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to retain discretion with confidential material/information.
