The Contra Costa AFL-CIO Labor Council is an exciting and growing organization that is building political and economic power for working people. As one of California’s leading federations of labor, we represent more than 80,000 union members in Contra Costa County. The Labor Council is hiring an Executive Director to lead a new era of political, legislative and workplace organizing by building coalitions with unions and community allies throughout the county.

We are looking candidates with these types of experiences and qualifications:

  1. At least 5+ years’ experience as leader/director in labor campaigns including political campaigns, member mobilization, internal and external organizing campaigns and building community alliances
  2. Experience with strategic and campaign planning
  3. Dedication to building the power of working people and organized labor
  4. Experience in promoting labor actions to exert the economic power of working people
  5. Experience managing issue based and/or candidate political campaigns
  6. Experience with PACs, grant writing and program implementation
  7. Knowledge of campaign finance laws
  8. Experience in developing and running training programs to assist local unions build activism and develop leadership
  9. Ability to work with diverse union and community leaders to coordinate campaigns and other programs
  10. Ability to work with elected officials to advance workers rights and job standards
  11. Experience working in unions or organizations that are organizing and campaign oriented
  12. Willingness to be accountable to an executive board and maintain a high level of reporting and record keeping
  13. Experience in hiring, training, motivating and directing organizing and administrative staff
  14. High level ability to communicate orally and in writing using all methods of communication and new technologies – especially social media platforms
  15. Must have a car, hold and maintain a valid CDL and willingness to travel, work evenings, holidays, and weekends
  16. Must be or become a member in good standing of an affiliated local union that is also affiliated with the California Labor Federation

Salary & Benefits: Competitive salary range ($100K - $120K) based on experience with full benefits. Women, people of color and bi-lingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
