Legal Plan Representative

Based in Los Angeles County, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Assists individual members in need of legal representation by following intake procedures, creating case logs, and referral to available law firms;
  • Tracks attorney/member meeting schedules, updates case logs, answers member questions;
  • Assists individual members and defense representatives in preparing and processing grievances, to include correspondence, hearing preparations, and scheduling meetings;
  • Regularly follows up with members to ensure cases have met ALADS customer service objectives;
  • Compiles and creates reports on customer service response data;
  • Maintains confidential files and records;
  • Types letters, memoranda, reports, and other correspondence material from marginal notes, rough drafts, dictation and/or verbal instructions including correct grammar, spelling and punctuation;
  • Screens visitors and phone calls, makes appointments;
  • Attends meetings and takes and transcribes minutes;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Qualified candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, be organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, calendaring, and scanning/storing documents and type at a minimum net speed of 55 words per minute

Desirable Employment Standards:
Graduation from an accredited two-year college, or education and three years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative assistant position. Experience with a law firm and familiarity with a law enforcement union’s legal plan operation is highly desirable.

Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a dependable vehicle available to work each business day.
