Project Organizer

Based in Kalispell, MT

JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time, temporary position for a project organizer to work on a Nurse and Health Professionals organizing campaign located in Kalispell, Montana.  Organizers are responsible for a variety of aspects of a campaign, but not limited to, building relationships with nurses, developing issues-based organizing plans for nurses, and for recruiting and sustaining motivation of organizing committee members and activities.   Position is a 3 to 6 months project position with a possibility of an extension or permanent status.  Union organizing/healthcare organizing experience preferred. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willing to work long and irregular hours including weekends.
  • In possession of an insured vehicle and valid driver license
  • Comfortable and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability and desire to learn nursing terminology and professional issues
  • Comfortable with taking direction from multiple supervisors
  • Experience in community, labor, or healthcare activism is a plus for organizer position
  • Applicants must be flexible with regards to travel and be willing to relocate

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Organize and mobilize nurses
  • Submit weekly work plan
  • Attend daily and weekly meetings/debriefs with supervisors to discuss progress and plan activities
  • One-on-one visits, home visits, house calls, phone banking, site visits, meetings, and other interaction with nurse members and potential nurse members
  • Enter assessments and other date collected in a database on a weekly basis
  • Occasionally, be available for travel for MNA in Montana and nationally, as required
  • Take direction from on daily and weekly activities to grow MNA
  • Participate in member trainings and professional development.

SALARY:
$3,500 - $4,000 per month (Dependent on experience and housing provided)
