Purpose:
Under the direction of the Organizing Director, the Organizing Coordinator is responsible for assisting and representing SEIU Local 2015 in achieving the organization’s program goals in the field; oversee all aspects of organizing projects, supervise, train and direct local union staff, special project staff, and members; designs and implements organizing plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Organizing Coordinator performs a wide range of duties and responsibilities which may encompass many of those included in the Coordinator-in-Training job description. In addition, the Organizing Coordinator will routinely:

  • Supervise, lead, assign, and evaluate staff including developing individual work plans with staff and overseeing their implantation and evaluation. Administer corrective discipline including termination if necessary
  • Recruit, interview, and recommend hiring staff.
  • Formulates and administers organizing plans and campaigns, develops campaign budgets, oversees office administration. Authorizes expenditures within the campaign budget.
  • Mentors Organizing Coordinator-in-Training and staff in organizing, training among staff as it relates to member organizing, new member organizing and coordinate multiple campaigns.

Job Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to work long, irregular hours, including weekends
  • Requires a high level of judgement, leadership, and commitment to the goals of the organization
  • Ability to work independently with members and elected leaders in complex political situations
  • Proven ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Requires experience in all elements of a political campaign; including leading staff, staff development, budgeting, and planning
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license, auto insurance that covers business driving, and an automobile for business use.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary offered based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation:
The current salary range is $104,551.86 – $109,844.80 based on experience and qualifications.
