UFCW Local 2013 is a union of 14,000 members working in food manufacturing, ware-housing, and health care in the New York City metropolitan area. Our Brooklyn-based union represents a majority immigrant workforce that is the backbone of the city. We are committed to improving the lives of working people.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Handling members' grievances, investigatory interviews, labor-management meetings, and general contract administration
  • Developing and executing contract campaigns and internal organizing campaigns
  • Organizing members around and participating in contract negotiations
  • Articulating the union’s vision, motivating and challenging workers
  • Developing and training shop stewards, leaders, and worker committees
  • Assisting in supporting the Union’s political and community outreach for workers right
  • Planning and executing worker meetings and trainings


  • Working knowledge of contract negotiations, enforcement, and labor law
  • Comfort working with a diverse set of people
  • Commitment to fight for social justice and worker rights
  • Fluency, if not high proficiency, in English and Spanish preferred
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment, with multiple priorities and critical deadlines
  • Advanced record-keeping and reporting
  • Willingness to work long hours and travel as needed
  • Valid driver’s license required
