Organizing Director

The Orange County Labor Federation, AFL-CIO represents more than ninety Local Unions from every sector of the Labor Movement with a membership of more than 250,000 working men and women. The Orange County Labor Federation, AFL-CIO strives to better the lives of all workers. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Organizing Director position. The position includes the duties as follow:


  • Coordinate with Locals in developing effective strategies for organizing workers and increasing membership using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
  • Contribute to the development of communications plans to workers.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with Labor organizations and allied community to increase outreach and effectiveness.
  • Mobilize OCLF Affiliates and allied community to participate in organizing efforts.
  • Assist with member turnout for OCLF events and actions.
  • Represent OCLF: at Labor and community gatherings; at workshops, trainings and presentations; to affiliates, elected officials and community-based organizations; and in the media.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to Staff Director.


  • Prior organizing experience required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to relate successfully to individuals of all races, nationalities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, income levels, educational backgrounds and occupational groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work long hours, independently, under stress and tight timelines.
  • Spanish/English proficiency preferred
  • Willingness to conduct house visits and site visits
  • A car and valid driver’s license are required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary $65,000 Majority employer paid medical, dental and vision benefits for employee and family; holidays, sick leave, vacation; pension and 401(k).
