Senior Strategic Research Associate
Capital Strategies

Based in Washington, DC

The Senior Strategic Research Associate for Capital Strategies will be responsible for leading CWA’s initiatives to challenge Wall Street attacks on working people and advocate for responsible investment principles and financial reform. The position will also provide support for CWA’s bank workers’ organizing campaign, which is at the frontlines of the effort to regulate the finance industry “from below.”

  • Develop research and analysis on major hedge fund, private equity firm and bank strategies, investments, and principals.
  • Engage institutional investors and other relevant stakeholders to advance an agenda of responsible investing and workers’ rights.
  • Work with coalition partners and CWA Legislative-Political Department to develop broad strategies for financial reform, centering workers’ voices and union campaigns.
  • Work with campaign coordinators and other union leaders in support of campaigns.
  • Lead and mentor other researchers in strategic corporate research.
  • Report to and work under the guidance of the CWA’s Research Director and collaboratively with campaign teams.

Job Qualifications

  • Five years or more relevant work experience in capital stewardship or related field.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations impacting the financial industry and investors.
  • Experience in program development and campaign planning related to capital stewardship and corporate accountability.
  • Excellent analytic and decision-making skills for developing campaign strategies.

  • Ability to present findings and recommendations in form of written reports or group presentations.
  • Experience in collective bargaining and union-oriented strategic research is preferred.
  • Commitment to the labor movement and progressive, democratic principles is essential.
