Location: CWA Headquarters (Washington, DC)

Communications Workers of America seeks an attorney with 10+ years of experience for an in-house position in its Headquarters Legal Department in Washington, DC. The position will involve working closely with union leadership on internal compliance under ERISA, FMLA, NLRA, Title VI, ADA, FLSA, and parallel state laws. The position may also include advocating on CWA’s behalf in state or federal courts, before administrative agencies and labor arbitrators.

The position involves direct interaction with top leadership of the union, offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits and a supportive and collegial work environment. Applicants must have a strong commitment to the labor movement. Candidates should have substantial experience in ERISA/employee benefits and private sector labor law and some experience in basic employment law, as noted above. Litigation experience is a plus.

Qualifications
Candidates for consideration must have a law degree and admission to the bar to practice in Washington DC. Candidates must possess good writing including drafting of legal documents, oral communications skills, and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Self-confidence, demonstrated leadership characteristics, and the ability to exercise sound, independent judgment are required.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
