E-Commerce Warehouse Organizer

May based in Joliet or Chicago, IL
(will be working in Will County, IL)


Warehouse Workers for Justice (WWJ) is a worker center fighting for good, living wage jobs among the thousands of transportation and logistics workers in the Chicago area, the largest intermodal logistics hub on the planet. Our work blends union and worker' center models, focusing on long-term leadership development, alliances with community organizations, and development of innovative organizing tactics. Working with our organizing team, this position will be dedicated to organizing workplace justice campaigns and developing an e-commerce worker leadership base in the massive e-commerce warehouse workforce in Will County, Illinois.


  • Develop and execute field plan
  • Assist organizing team in growing WWJ’s leadership committees
  • Conduct intensive worker outreach efforts
  • Lead one-on-one and group meetings with workers
  • Identify and develop workplace leaders
  • Build e-commerce workers committees
  • Maintain accurate information on worksites and campaign activities
  • Gather information necessary for enforcement of labor laws
  • Able to lead and develop workplace organizing campaigns
  • Lead in worker leadership development
  • Able to support and train worker leadership in being spokespeople for campaigns, including speaking to the media.


  • Previous labor organizing experience a plus
  • Ability to make and execute a workplan
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends
  • A working vehicle and a valid drivers' license
  • Basic computer and writing skills
  • A strong commitment to social justice
  • Spanish speaking is a plus

Will be supervised by WWJ’s Associate Director. Salary is $48k – $57k depending on experience. Benefits and car allowance are provided.
