Who We Are:
Founded in 2018, Rideshare Drivers United-CA is a driver-led, driver organization fighting for fair pay and respect for our profession. We are leaders in a national and international movement to achieve basic labor rights for all app-based workers. We believe that victory is possible, and that by building real worker power through grassroots organizing and campaigning, and by developing driver leadership for our movement, we can win the right to organize our own union, as well as achieve real advances to drivers' work-lives and income, while raising the bar for all workers.

The Field Director is responsible for the development and management of our campaigns and field activities. This requires coordination and project management, as well as identifying and developing leaders throughout our organization. The Field Director is supervised by the RDU President, and works closely with the RDU President and Board of Directors, as well as regional Chapter leadership, key staff, and volunteers.

  • Work with the President and Board Manager to conceptualize and construct campaign field strategy, plans, and goals for campaigns, including timelines and budgets where required;
  • Monitor, assign, and ensure member communication and public communication strategies are handled;
  • Identify and develop high level driver leaders throughout the state, developing and managing our programs to develop driver volunteers into driver organizers.
  • Keep Board of Directors and staff fully informed on progress and needs of the campaign, including issues that might impact organizational objectives.
  • Supervise and develop core and paid and volunteer staff.
  • Establish accountability systems in the field to ensure that campaign goals are met, including the implementation of post-campaign debriefs and assessments;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years of union campaign experience;
  • Experience drafting field plans;
