Executive Director

This position’s role is to work under the general direction of the Keep Oklahoma’s Promises Coalition. The main directive of the Executive Director is to promote the National (NPPC) and State’s (KOP members) programs and objectives through both internal and external communications as well as legislative actions. The Executive Director will be employed as an independent contractor.


  • Develop, manage, and execute an annual work plan for the coalition including Coalition Activity, Legislative Activity, Press Outreach, Social Media, Action Network, and Member Engagement.
  • Oversee management of the organization website and social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Develop, manage and produce materials to create a cohesive image and message for both offline and online communication vehicles, including, but not limited to the following:
    • Regular emails/ mail outs
    • Monthly Newsletter (both electronic and mailed)
    • Social Media Posts
    • Brochures and Information kits
    • Annual and Monthly Reports, including financial
    • Media Advisory’s/ Press Releases
    • Events (all materials needed)
    • Ensure that all materials are developed and distributed according to the annual work plan timeline.
  • Plan and manage external communications effort with media outlets to utilize on specific pension issues or events.
  • Plan and manage events including logistics, materials, speakers, etc. Events include Lobbyist Days: Teacher Tuesdays and Firefighter Wednesdays, KOP monthly meetings, and meetings with Legislators.
  • Coordinate legislative action from bill language to signing. Will also work with affiliates and community partners to stop negative bills from passing.
  • Research and produce data driven material related to pensions.
  • Director shall provide monthly reports, including financial reports, to coalition members.
  • Fill out and submit the NPPC yearly Grant.
  • Timely submit lobbyist reports to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
  • Other duties as assigned by the KOP Coalition.


  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communications skills (both written and oral) with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with graphic design programs.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building for the coalition both internally and externally.
  • Results-oriented and a passion for creativity.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process.
  • Must be willing to work nontraditional work hours.
  • Must be willing to become a lobbyist.
  • Must have a history with writing and applying for Grants.

Desirable Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Labor Unions, their roles, their internal policies and procedures, and their culture.
  • Experience with politics and an understanding of voter registration requirements.
  • Being a registered voter.
