SEIU UHW West, United Healthcare Workers West

United Healthcare Workers West

Financial and Emotional Wellness

May based in either Oakland or Los Angeles, CA

Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary:
Health care workers have been through incredibly trying times during the last two years. Forced to risk their health and their families throughout the pandemic, often without the protective measures they had been trained throughout their careers to know are necessary. They have worked extraordinary hours, sacrificing personal time for the rest and relationships that sustain then. They’ve experienced traumatic patient suffering and death on a daily basis. The response of healthcare employers has been completely inadequate to provide the level of support caregivers need.

The pandemic has also exposed the financial vulnerability that so many working people experience. Our education system does not provide the financial literacy skills working people need to protect their families and their futures. Women, people of color and all working people need access to financial education and tools to secure their retirement, navigate housing and higher education and plan their estates in order to be fully empowered participants in our economy.

To address these needs, SEIU-UHW has created a Financial and Emotional Wellness program to partner with community resources to provide tools for emotional wellness and financial security for our members. The Coordinator of Financial and Emotional Wellness, reporting to the Deputy Chief of Staff will oversee and continue to develop this program.
