Position Summary
The Development Coordinator will drive the planning and implementation of the union’s education, training, and development programs for members and staff. You will supervise the Education Associate, as well as work closely with the Training, Education and MAT (TEaM) Committee of the Local’s Board. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Growth and Organization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop an on-going, inclusive culture of education & training.
  • Develop and implement
    • Member education/training programs in consultation with Field leadership and field staff.
    • Staff education/training programs in consultation with the Deputy Director of Growth and Organization.
    • Executive Board and Board Committees development in consultation with the Deputy Director of Growth and Organization.
    • Local’s management development programs in consultation with the Deputy Director of Growth and Organization.
    • New Staff onboarding program in consultation with with HR manager
    • Staff skills development and job training in consultation with field leadership, and other department managers and directors.
  • Develop programs to advance Equity and Inclusion within our organization
  • Development and coordination of the Local’s annual statewide member leader conference including program development, workshops, and other areas
  • Lead and develop the Executive Board’s Education & Training Committee.
  • Identify outside training opportunities for staff and members.
  • Develop a comprehensive system for evaluation and tracking skill building across all areas of the union.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of inclusive feedback and evaluation within the organization

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Passion for 3299’s mission and a demonstrated commitment to justice for working families.
  • At least five years experience in labor or non-profit organizations related to social and economic causes. Related experience will be given consideration.
  • At least three years experience in development and/or delivery of training and education programs for union members and staff is required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relations with diverse membership and staff.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and developing and maintaining organized systems of information.
  • Experience and competency in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Excellent judgment & creative problem solving skills
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact.

Additional Requirements:

  • Extended day and overnight travel; frequent statewide travel is required.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, auto insurance with business coverage, and an automobile for business use.

Physical Requirements (as required by ADA)
Work is performed in a variety of employment settings. Driving, travel, temporary assignments, irregular and extended work hours are required.
