The Virginia Education Association (VEA) is seeking applicants for the Professional Learning/Grant Coordinator position for 2022-2025. Position Description:
The Great Public Schools (GPS) Grant is a partnership between VEA and the National Education Association (NEA) Teacher Quality Department. The position works in the department of Teaching & Learning, which is responsible for developing and delivering high quality professional learning to members across the Commonwealth.

The Professional Learning/Grant Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with planning, implementing, documenting, and reporting grant-funded activities. Activities will focus on supporting members to obtain National Board Certification, providing high-quality professional learning, and establishing a mentor program for early career educators and education support specialists. Responsible for all aspects of grant management as well as assisting with maintaining the Learning Management System (LMS).

This position is funded under a grant for three years with no guarantee of funding beyond that.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with various departments to complete and submit all documentation required to VEA and NEA;
  • Ensure periodic reports are prepared and submitted to remain in compliance with grant requirements;
  • Assist members and staff as users of the LMS;
  • Enter content to the LMS;
  • Maintain accurate files;
  • Communicate with members and staff regarding grant activities, as appropriate;
  • Communicate with fiscal contacts at NEA for problem resolution and information gathering;
  • Assess needs and assist in resolving issues related to grant accounting; and
  • Implement equitable policies and practices to promote diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Is committed to increasing inclusivity and bettering the collective union experience
  • Is responsive to constructive feedback
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Other Information:
Occasional travel within Virginia.

Salary and Benefits:
This is a professional staff position covered by the VEA/VPSA Master Contract. Salary is negotiable depending upon applicant’s experience and qualifications, with a hiring range of $68,000 to $75,000. Effective September 1, 2020, the VEA/Staff Master Contract has a salary range of $68,000 to $101,948 for 2020-2022. The contract also includes an excellent fringe benefits package.
