Membership Coordinator

Description: Active labor union in Chicago committed to progressive issues. UNITE HERE represents a diverse workforce in gaming, hospitality, food service, airports, and convention venues. We are engaged in new organizing, contract fights, political campaigns, community organizing, and leadership development. We are continuing to grow as a union and to train more workers.

We are seeking a Membership Coordinator to join our staff.  Candidates for this position should be organized, punctual, engaged, and have the ability to multitask.  An interest in working with people in a small office environment will be critical for the successful candidate.

Area of Focus: Administration & Financial


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills & experience working with the public
  • Competency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Willingness to learn new tasks
  • Must be accurate and exhibit follow-through skills; must be detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team
  • Ability to work effectively & professionally with union members and other staff
  • Bilingual required (Spanish or Cantonese)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but high school diploma (GED) accepted

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain membership records through union database & other programs
  • Contract enforcement related to financial and membership issues
  • Membership support over the phone and in person, handling union dues inquiries
  • Work closely with employers & HR managers, and union committee
  • Handle a variety of financial and administrative tasks
  • Assist in bilingual translations for staff and union members

The Membership Coordinator reports to the Membership Lead & Administrative Director and works with other office staff. This is a full-time hourly position (40-hour work week) Monday through Friday in office where masks are required. Must be fully vaccinated (including booster).
