Title: Editorial Supervisor - Media

Position Summary: Manages production of IBEW print publication and Internet communications; assists in the development and implementation of the marketing and strategic communications program for the IBEW; participates in and coordinates internal communications activities as directed.

Representative Major Duties

  1. Responsible for publication, design and content for the IBEW’s official monthly publication, The Electrical Worker, and for maintaining the Media Center portion of IBEW.org; manages team of five writers, one senior editorial assistant, one web producer and one production assistant and coordinates assignment, editorial and approval processes for all published materials.
  2. Work with department director and IBEW leadership to formulate marketing and strategic communications for the IBEW, including drafting and implementing media plans, reports and other materials.
  3. Works across print/video teams to coordinate and assist with projects and assignments.
  4. Works as directed in the production of communications products for IBEW conventions and conferences.
  5. May work with department director in development of speeches and other executive communications for International Officers.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

General Comments
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent and 5 to 10 years’ experience writing and editing others in a professional setting. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills essential, including ability to comprehend issues and information quickly and communicate essence of same concisely and effectively. Familiarity with AP style preferred. Must have experience selecting and performing light editing of photos to accompany print materials. Experience with social media platforms is required. Must be able to participate in editorial planning and content development for print and internet communications and direct others in the same. Must be familiar with the essentials of writing and editing under deadline and working with graphic designers and video producers. Familiarity with the labor movement, and political or issue campaigns is preferred.

Salary range: $123,000 to $130,000
