Paid Labor Organizing Fellowships

New Brookwood Labor College strives to address racial, economic, and social imbalances of power by educating workers and providing opportunities to gain practical organizing experiences. We are based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

We are looking for 10 Labor Organizing Fellows for a yearlong paid fellowship. Fellows will learn about the labor movement, get training to organize in the service sector, and work on labor organizing campaigns across Minnesota. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend and a sign-on bonus.

Some things to know:

  • Priority will be given to applications received by April 15th.
  • Fellows must live, or be willing to relocate to Minnesota. It is not possible to work remotely in this position.
  • Priority will be given to those who can join the Cohort for training in person in St. Paul the week of May 29th, 2023.
  • While we have positions in the Twin Cities Metro, we are particularly looking for Fellows who live in, or are willing to relocate to, greater Minnesota (outside of Minneapolis/St. Paul).

The ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Higher educational degree (though we will look at candidates with High School Diploma/GED who meet other criteria)
  • Previous experience in labor, community, or electoral organizing
  • Experience working in health care, retail, or other service-sector jobs
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to manage work time independently
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Reliable vehicle
