IUE-CWA Local 81201 represents 1200 members in Lynn, MA. The IUE-CWA is the Industrial Division of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). We represent a force of over 40,000 active workers united collectively to seek dignity on the job and a secure future for ourselves, our children, and all future generations.

IUE-CWA Local 81201 is looking for an Organizer in the Lynn, MA region to deepen our local’s external organizing capacity. The work requires significant evening and some weekend work, in addition to strategic planning and input to help steer our on-the-ground and virtual organizing efforts. Ideal candidates have a breadth of experience in organizing union campaigns, data management, and strategic planning.

The main goals of this campaign are as follows:

  • Establish worker committees at designated organizing targets in the Lynn, MA and Northeast region.
  • Train and develop workers to take on leadership roles in their committees and in campaigns.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee all stages of an organizing campaign – from establishing committees through election.

This is a one-year assignment with the potential for renewal. Competitive pay and benefits, commensurate with experience.

Job Qualifications

  • Have at least 3-5 years of demonstrated campaign experience in external union organizing.
  • Have demonstrated commitment to economic and social justice and the labor movement. Have advanced communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to work long, irregular hours, and travel away from home/office.
  • Experience with NLRB election campaigns.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and prioritize strategy and tactics, analyzing what is effective
  • Lead and direct campaign work
  • Learn and follow the CWA Model of Organizing
  • Work under direction and guidance of the local and CWA national organizing department.
  • Write and fully communicate a campaign plan and develop campaign metrics
  • Will be accountable for all aspects of the campaign and work to objectives/metrics, directing the work of others towards these goals and producing regular reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:
Wages: $80,000
