  • Ability to demonstrate the PBSD’s core values in his/her/their day-to-day work.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license, use of a car for work, and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers and members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with unions is a plus.

Job Description
The Partnership for a Better San Diego is the 501(c)3 arm of the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council – a labor organization representing over 130 unions and 200,000 working families across the region. PBSD’s mission is to build the labor movement in both San Diego and Imperial Counties and increase awareness of unions through community outreach and engagement and by providing training and development opportunities that will improve access to good union jobs. During the past two and half years PBSD pivoted to providing relief to working families that were impacted by the pandemic. PBSD serves over 10,000 families annually. The High Road Hiring Hall Program (HRHHP) is a grassroots effort to improve the conditions of on-demand work. HRHHP is a nascent program of the CLC that’s primary focus is to match workers to on demand shifts requested by union employers. Currently the program is recruiting, training and matching for jobs within the hospitality industry with the plan to expand to other industries and sectors.

PBSD is seeking a qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the role of Hiring Hall Program Manager.

Duties Responsibilities
Applicants for the position should possess strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Applicants must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to work extended hours and weekends. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Implementing program plans and developing procedures for assigned projects.
  • Onboarding temporary employees of the PBSD High Road Hiring Hall Program.
  • Monitor and track PBSD Hiring Hall grant compliance and provide reports as necessary.
  • Coordinating the staffing operations of the High Road Hiring Hall
  • Build relationships with outside organizations for worker recruitment/partnerships
  • Serve as liaison between employers HRHHP employees
  • Managing HRHHP employees to support with any needed tasks
  • Communicating progress and updates and identifying programmatic
  • Any duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience

  • Computer proficiency
  • Experience with data management.
  • Supervising experience desirable
  • Must possess a strong dedication to progressive values
  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups required
  • Knowledge of CalJobs program desirable
  • Ability to work with technology platforms used by PBSD and SDICLC
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, must be detail-oriented
  • Fluent bilingual skills(English/Spanish) are desirable

Compensation
The Partnership for a Better San Diego offers competitive compensation and benefits. The pay range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 depending on experience. Benefits include but are not limited to employer paid medical/vision/dental and pension, paid vacation and holidays, auto allowance and cell phone reimbursement.
