Job Summary
The Database Specialist is a key member of the JMA team during this critical period of growth for the organization. It’s an exciting opportunity for an emerging leader passionate about racial and economic justice, progressive policy and/or the labor movement to leverage JMA’s mission and values to help grow and sustain our organization.
In this newly created role, the Database Specialist will provide high level administrative and database support to advance our programmatic and fundraising strategic priorities. This position will implement systems and processes to maximize our impact and track our progress in achieving a just, clean, and worker-centered economy. The Database Specialist will report to the Development Director and will work closely with the Senior Development Associate and program staff across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help lead the organization-wide implementation and adoption of Salesforce as project manager, and serve as primary liaison between our contracted Salesforce implementation partner and JMA team members
- In coordination with regional directors and program staff, develop standardized systems and procedures for: data collection, import, and reporting processes within Salesforce, JMA’s website, and related digital platforms
- Maintain standards for managing and moving data securely across multiple systems, ensuring data security and integrity every step of the way
- Under the direction of the development director, serve as database administrator and manage robust data input, tracking and reporting, and develop training and best practices for all staff to learn and effectively use Salesforce
- Oversee proper management of development data in Salesforce database, including timely gift and grant processing, maintaining complete and accurate donor records and financial data, generating reports and dashboards
- In collaboration with development, communications and program teams, serve as administrator for integrated and related digital tools and platforms, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Pardot) data management, audience segmentation and automations; Wordpress website integration, donation platforms and payment processors; and any digital organizing and advocacy apps.
- Participate in ongoing evaluation of current systems and assessment of emerging data management needs; identify and develop appropriate solutions and processes to ensure effective and streamlined relationship management
- Assist the finance and development team in the balance and closing of financial reports
Qualifications & Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of four years as database manager for a nonprofit CRM, with at least two years administrator experience with Salesforce for Nonprofits
- Previous experience leading the implementation of Salesforce (or similar CRM) for a nonprofit organization
- Deep understanding of data architecture and workflow mapping within Salesforce and related systems
- Experience managing complex projects from inception to completion
- Demonstrated proficiency with G-Suite, Microsoft Office
- Experience with app integration (Zapier, GiveWP) and digital organizing/advocacy tools such as NGP VAN, EveryAction, etc.
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines and produce quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized, precise, and attentive to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people in a remote environment
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, ethics, responsiveness, and confidentiality
- A passion for data and how it can be leveraged to build social movements and change policies
- Demonstrated interest, understanding, and commitment to JMA’s mission
Compensation/Benefits:
- Salary Range $62,000 - $82,000
- Depending on geographic area, a one-time cost of living adjustment (COLA) may be added to the salary
- Employer pays 100 percent of medical, dental, and vision premium
