United to House LA Coalition Director (or Manager)

The United to House LA (ULA) Coalition developed Measure LA and organized voters to pass it. We are now focused on its successful implementation. ULA Coalition Steering Committee members include ACT-LA, IBEW Local 11, KIWA, LA Family Housing, LA-OC Building & Construction Trades Council, Liberty Hill, Move LA, SAJE, SCANPH, SEIU 2015, and United Way of Greater LA. We seek an experienced Director to drive and strengthen the coalition and coordinate the work of committed, active member organizations. Though we seek a Director, we may elect to hire at the Manager level.
- Lead the development and execution of strategy with the Steering Committee.
- Ensure that coalition objectives and field expertise are integral to the successful implementation of Measure ULA, and that the coalition works effectively with relevant LA offices and agencies.
- Strengthen the coalition in LA and connect with aligned statewide and national allies.
- Work with coalition to develop a civic engagement infrastructure to sustain the housing justice movement in Los Angeles.
- Ensure coordination among ULA coalition committees and work with them to implement political, communications, policy, voter organizing, and fundraising strategies, including policies for implementation of components of the ULA program.
- With contracted support, ensure strong communications, including website and a robust digital outreach campaign.
- Financial and data management (budget tracking, invoicing, etc.).
The ideal candidate will have these qualifications:
- Extensive policy advocacy experience, ideally in Los Angeles.
- Experience leading and managing coalition campaigns.
- Experience with organizing and/or electoral field campaigns.
- Understanding of communications and ability to coordinate communications staff within coalition member organizations and external consultants.
- Fundraising experience.
- Commitment to the goals of ULA.
- Commitment to racial and economic justice.
- Commitment to strengthening social justice movements and especially housing justice.
- Superlative communicator and ability to understand and work with a wide range of people.
Position Information: Position is full time and exempt. This position will be housed at KIWA.
- Salary: $92,500 – $115,000 depending on capacity and relevant experience (Manager: $75,000 – $85,000)

Reporting: This position reports to the Executive Director of KIWA; work will be coordinated by ULA committee leads.
