Human Resource Manager

Based in Canton, MA

 

Position Title: Human Resource Manager
Schedule: 35-hour work week, 1st year  4 weeks vacation, 5 personal days, 13 holidays
Reports to: Director of Finance

Position Summary:
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for planning, overseeing, and reporting of the timely and accurate payment of staff salaries and benefits programs. The position oversees recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees. Additionally, serves as a consultant to senior management for the development and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrate and record bi-weekly payroll and employee benefits. Work closely with Associate Director-Finance to ensure the accurate and timely posting of salary and employee benefits.
  • Coordinate benefit processing, including enrollments, terminations, and claims.
  • Manage employee benefits, health insurance, retirement, COBRA, and unemployment. Oversees leaves of absence; FMLA, PFML, and STD.
  • Work with outside consultant in reviewing and implementing employee benefit programs.
  • Ensure the organization adheres to Union Contracts for salary, benefits and work requirements.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Manage job postings, screening of applicants, leading initial interviews, conducting background checks and handling job offers.
  • On-boarding new hires, assisting with orientation and scheduling introductory meetings. Ensure on-boarding process is thorough and current.
  • Manage Worker’s Compensation and Unemployment insurance claim portal. Oversee annual Workers Compensation audit.
  • Participate in employee grievance proceedings and investigations. Provide guidance and assistance to management and other personnel as needed in this process.
  • Develop and implement diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and procedures.
  • Work with Executive Director and Directors in the implementation and adherence of the policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in human resource, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or related field. Eight plus years of experience working within HR, Operations or Talent Acquisition.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism.
  4. Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within the organization.
  5. Comfortable resolving conflict
  6. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  7. Implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion plans. Experience guiding Senior Management and employees throughout this process.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc)
  9. Experience using accounting software for reporting payroll and benefits.
  10. Experience with iMIS or FUSE for grievance tracking preferred but not required.
  11. Experience with ADP preferred.
