The Data and Contracts Department offers technology solutions to help our local affiliates use their resources more efficiently. The department tests and evaluates new and developing technology to provide recommendations and best practices for affiliates – from video-conferencing software to versatile CRM and database programs to third-party integrations. Created as part of the International Union’s commitment to increasing union membership, the Teamsters Data and Contracts Department serves the local affiliate and Teamsters Trade Divisions/Conferences as a key source of statistical and agreements information. The department maintains the largest contract database of any union in North American, with more than 350,000 current and expired Teamster labor agreements.

The Database Clerical Assistant is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the organizing databases. The Database Clerical Assistant position is a non-remote position based at the IBT Headquarters in Washington, DC.


  • Maintains field databases for IBT Organizers and IBT Affiliates.
  • Updates and retrieves information regarding campaigns, as need arises.
  • Responsible for maintaining hard copy files related to the organizing databases.
  • Conducts research for special projects, as assigned.
  • Coordinates with other IBT departments, trade divisions, and conferences in compiling databases for organizing campaigns.
  • Maintains administrative databases – working with Database Analyst and Database Assistant.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of secretarial coursework preferred.
  • Two years of prior office experience required.
  • Ability to type 50 WPM required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PC, database, and various software packages required.
  • Knowledge of union structure and basic organizing procedures preferred.

The IBT offers a generous total compensation package, with a starting salary range between $49,655.00 and $60,259.00, 100% employer-paid health & welfare plan, a pension plan, optional 401(k) participation, FICA reimbursement, and vacation & sick leave plan.
