CSEA Region Director

CSEA, one of New York State’s largest public employee unions, is seeking resumes for Long Island Region Director. Located in the Commack office and working under the direction and supervision of the Director of Field Operations, the Region Director is responsible for in-field supervision of regionally assigned field staff personnel.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: manage and supervise activities of all staff personnel in the regional and satellite office(s) with the region; prepare annual budget and monitor quarterly reports; indoctrinate, orient and train new staff; supervise contract campaigns; and evaluate the work of the field staff including evaluation of contract demands, negotiating techniques, ratification procedures, work contracts, grievances, disciplines, improper practice charges and overall work performance.
 
The salary range is $110,000 to $121,000 commensurate with experience, plus a transportation stipend and excellent benefits.
 
Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in labor relations, public administration or other related field and three years experience negotiating contracts and contract administration; demonstrates a strong commitment to social justice and building the labor movement along with the ability to work well with a wide variety of people; the ability to organize and plan work; possesses leadership skills to educate and motivate staff and members, exercises sound judgment in complex situations. Must have strong public speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing. OR Associate’s Degree in a related field and five years experience negotiating contracts and contract administration AND 2 years satisfactory experience in a CSEA field position OR A satisfactory equivalent combination of appropriate training and experience as determined by CSEA.  Must possess NY State driver’s license and car for business use.
