Member Resource Center Organizer

We are looking for a full time Member Resource Center Organizer to work with members to organize at their workplace, resolve grievances, and develop member stewarding skills. The right person will be able to balance a high level of attention to detail and ability to build a case with empathy for workers who are experiencing conflict at work. Are you that person?

The Member Resource Center (MRC) Organizer position is a non-field staff position responsible for a combination of duties and responsibilities that include:
- Servicing of bargaining units, including grievance processing, contract administration and working with state agencies.
- Designing, planning and implementing steward training and development programs.
- Supporting activists, and grievance processing of SEIU Local 925 members through managing the MRC intake (phone, email, etc.) process.
- Ensure accurate and timely case-related data/document management using the employer’s data/document management system.
- Communicating with employers regarding grievances and contract enforcement.
- Communicating with the internal organizing teams and directors about organizing issues raised by member communications to the MRC.
- May assist and/or lead in collective bargaining
- May handle mediations, arbitrations, and unfair labor practices
- May participate in public policy activity such as legislative and political work.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines
Preferred qualifications:
- Community organizing or union organizing experience
- Legal experience
- Research experience
- Journalism experience
- Spanish language proficiency

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $68,000-103,000. Benefits include fully employer-paid family health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, a generous leave package, car allowance, and other benefits outlined in the policies of SEIU 925 and the staff union contract.
This position will require evening and weekend work. SEIU 925 currently follows strict COVID-19 protocols, but applicants should be aware that this position includes regional and national travel and time away from home outside of pandemic times. The main SEIU 925 office is in Seattle, but our child care members are statewide. A driver’s license, a car and proof of insurance, proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and a passion for organized labor power are required.
