Cook County College Teachers Union, Local 1600 (AFT), is a progressive labor union representing 5,000 community college faculty, professionals, and staff at 14 community colleges in the Chicago area. The Professional Staff Assistant is responsible for maintaining the membership database and working with the college administrations to ensure accuracy of the data. They will be responsible for a variety of office tasks including maintaining records and assisting senior staff as needed. They will also be responsible for printing and scanning materials, mailings, and ordering office supplies.

This is an office-based position which will require maintaining regular work hours out of our Union office.

Essential Duties:

• Maintain membership database and union records
• Prepare AAA labor arbitration demand forms
• File cases in the IFT Defense system and upload invoices
• Assist with scheduling of meetings both in-person and on Zoom
• Aid senior staff with office work
• Carry out assigned responsibilities in a competent, professional manner
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Effective communication and record-keeping skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities
• Proficient at Excel and Microsoft Office products
• Associate’s degree

Salary and Benefits:
$45,000 salary, flexible schedule, Individual health benefits covered by the union
