Job Title: Secretary
Location: Elkridge, MD NBA Office
Salary Level: Part-Time
Shift: Up to 24 Hours/Week
Reports To: National Business Agent

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
Performs a variety of administrative, clerical, and other related duties as assigned by the officer responsible for the office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Answer the telephone and inquiries.
  • Process monthly mailings and routine mail.
  • Prepare correspondence.
  • Input into the computer information pertaining to grievances.Maintain status of each grievance; in addition, send appropriate notices to the involved parties.
  • Type briefs for arbitration, and other correspondence as needed.
  • Maintain filing system and assist in maintaining office supplies.
  • Make the necessary travel and hotel arrangements for the officers.
  • Make copies of correspondence or other printed matter.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • One-year secretarial experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ability to type 45 WPM.
  • Ability to utilize a computer with Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as other office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax, etc.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions following established procedures.
  • Ability to perform duties with neatness and accuracy.
  • Individual must be dependable and responsible with exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with APWU personnel, members, and general public.
