Position Overview
This is a temporary, in-person phone banking position based in Buena Park, CA, created through a partnership between OC Action and the Pilipino Action Center (PAC). We will be calling Filipino Republicans in Young Kim's District to facilitate patch thru calls to her office.
The position runs from May 27 to June 5, 2025, with shifts held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Summary
In response to the current political moment at the federal, state, and local levels, OC Action—working in collaboration with PAC—is building a team to outreach and mobilize registered voters in Orange County. Our goal is to advocate for or against legislation, policies, and budgets that directly impact our communities. We seek to hold elected representatives accountable and ensure that community resources are equitably distributed so all people can thrive.
Expectations
- Attend all scheduled shifts on time and communicate with your lead at least 24 hours in advance if you will be absent or late (unless in emergency).
- Hold progressive values and feel passionate about investing in the Filipino community
- Strive to meet outreach and engagement goals.
- Adhere to agreed-upon community guidelines to the best of your ability.
Responsibilities
- Conduct phone banking and related outreach activities to mobilize community members around issue advocacy.
- Proactively collect and share voter and legislative insights.
- Participate in coaching, trainings, and skills development opportunities.
- Participate in debriefs before and after call sessions, as needed

- Preferred (not required): Fluent in Tagalog
Work Environment
- Location: In-person at a shared office in Buena Park, CA.
- Work may occasionally require brief outdoor activities or exposure to noise.
Physical Requirements
- Regular duties include sitting, standing, walking, using a computer and phone, driving, typing, listening, and speaking.

- May involve engaging with members of the public who have differing viewpoints from OC Action’s values.
