ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Multi-State Field Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of strategic field programs across the union. This role supports district staff, member leaders, and interdepartmental partners in advancing the union’s long-term strategic goals—including increasing member engagement, growing member leadership, strengthening contract campaigns, and mobilizing around political and organizing priorities.

The Union-Wide Field Coordinator will play a critical leadership role in identifying best practices, supporting staff development, coordinating large-scale union-wide initiatives, and ensuring accountability around execution. This role reports to the Field Director and works closely with district leadership and multiple departments across the union.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Field Director, the Multi-State Field Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Program Development & Implementation: Implement field engagement plans that advance the union’s strategic priorities, including leadership development, political mobilization, contract campaigns, worksite engagement, and issue-based advocacy.
  • Cross-Region Collaboration: Coordinate multi-state field programs and foster alignment across regions and departments (political, organizing, communications, data) to ensure consistency and effectiveness in field operations.
  • Staff Development & Support: Conduct training sessions for staff and member leaders; support staff in developing field plans and identifying development needs; help shape union-wide staff training priorities.
  • Strategic Coordination: Assist in developing strategic plans and calendars for major campaigns and projects. Collaborate with Field Drivers and district leadership to track progress and support execution.
  • Meeting Facilitation & Follow-Up: Support the Field Director in setting meeting agendas, synthesizing information, generating action steps, and ensuring timely follow-up from field program meetings.
  • Project Leadership: Lead or support coordination of field components of key union-wide initiatives such as:
    • Together We Rise
    • Union-Wide Steward Training
    • Immigration & Member Leader Committees
    • New Member Orientation & Sign-Up Programs
    • Fight Backs & Defense Campaigns
    • ADF Political Mobilization
    • Leader App Rollout & Adoption
    • SJLA Member Engagement & Political Education

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5–7 years of experience in labor organizing, field operations, or campaign coordination, preferably in a leadership or training capacity.
  • Deep understanding of union field work, member engagement models, and leadership development.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-layered projects involving staff across regions and departments.
  • Skilled trainer and facilitator with a track record of supporting professional development and team-building.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate, coach, and hold others accountable.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with data-driven planning and field tools; comfort using tracking systems and technology.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, social, and economic justice.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a full-time, in-person position and must be based in a city with a 32BJ office. The role requires regular evening and weekend work, and occasional travel throughout the union’s footprint. Must be able to participate in field activities such as rallies, marches, and demonstrations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $99,000 – $110,000, depending on experience. 32BJ offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
