About the Position
- Hiring immediately,
- Full-time Director to support an SEIU Local based in Denver, Colorado.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with key elected union leaders and staff to create a structure that allows us to mobilize a huge army of workers across Colorado to create an active and educated grassroots membership structure
- Connect the concepts and theories of the training content to the real work and mission of the organization
- Lead in the development of training programs focused on member leader development and participation specifically for stewards, communication action team members and activists as well as other leadership roles within the union
- Support the development of staff in member leader development
- Track daily, weekly and monthly number reports in relation to localwide member strength goals and program
- Create and facilitate trainings, including worksite mobilization, recruitment, contract campaign mobilization, amongst others
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in labor organizing
- Experience in leader identification, recruitment and development
- Bilingual ability to speak and write in English and Spanish is required
- Educational/training experience with working people or a related degree
- Proficiency in understanding and analyzing information and terminology for inclusion in training materials (webinars, zooms, purple texting, virtual learning modules, worksite based paper modules, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and carry it through to conclusion without close supervision
- Demonstrated ability work with a variety of personalities under pressure
- Ability to assess the quality and applicability of training materials
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communications skills
- Commitment to the labor movement and a strong work ethic
- Functions with a high level of integrity, transparency and the ability to give and receive feedback
- Ability to work independently and be self motivated
- Candidates should have strong emotional intelligence and a commitment to their own growth and development, and to that of others
- Sound judgement, including in highly complex situations
- Experience tracking and assessing members and staff skill set and development
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and VAN required as well as web conferencing and collaboration software
- Valid driver's license, car and insurance
SALARY & BENEFITS
- Salary range of $100,000 to $116,000 based on experience.
- Monthly car allowance of $515
