LOCATION: Remote with extensive travel
STARTING SALARY: $98,196 – $139,882
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO is seeking a Staff Attorney/Staff Negotiator to join the AFA-CWA Legal Department. This role supports Flight Attendants through legal advocacy, negotiations, and member representation. We are looking for a candidate with a demonstrated commitment to workers’ rights and the labor movement. Ideal candidates will have excellent writing, research, and oral communication skills as well as the ability to work directly with individual workers and union leaders. This is a remote position requiring extensive travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on grievances, disciplinary issues, and contract administration.
- Represent the union in litigation, arbitration, and collective bargaining.
- Conduct research, draft briefs, and review legal documents.
- Support organizing campaigns, membership mobilization, and public awareness efforts.
- Assist with negotiations by preparing proposals and advising union committees.
Qualifications:
- J.D. and admission to the bar required.
- Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills.
- 3+ years’ experience in labor and employment law, arbitrations, negotiations, or litigation preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular hours.
- Familiarity with the commercial aviation industry, Flight Attendant profession and the Railway Labor Act, and experience with labor negotiations is highly preferred though not required.
