Position Summary
Are you passionate about education, labor, and equity? Join the SEIU 1199NE Training and Upgrading Fund as our Communications and Digital Strategy Manager. Play a vital role in supporting the unionized healthcare career development ecosphere. The mission of the Fund is to support working adult learners who work in health care to attend various types of educational programs (ex. workshops, trainings, certificate programs, community college and university level B.A., M.A., etc.) which elevate their skills enabling them to gain better paying employment within the 1199NE unionized health care industry in CT and RI. As part of a progressive union, the Training Fund seeks to advance the livelihoods of 1199 NE caregivers and the people they care for. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an organization that empowers healthcare workers and strengthens the long-term care workforce.

The Communications and Digital Strategy Manager leads the development and execution of marketing and communications initiatives that promote the S.E.I.U. 1199NE Training Fund’s programs, values, and impact. This role strengthens brand visibility, member engagement, and digital presence across multiple platforms.

Working collaboratively with staff across departments (in CT and RI), the Communications and Digital Strategy Manager creates compelling content, manages digital campaigns (internal to market benefit programs to members and externally to CT and RI in the health care career pathway creation ecosphere), supports technology integration for instructional programs and communications to members, and ensures consistent, mission-driven storytelling across all communications channels.

Terms of Employment
This position will require the CDSM to work full-time (40-hour week) in-person at the Fund’s Hartford offices initially, as well as occasional travel to capture footage of members in RI throughout the year (approximately 12 visits per year) to Providence, Rhode Island and other RI facilities. Mileage reimbursement will be paid to the CDSM based on the standard milage rate determined by the IRS for RI travel. The Fund will also provide a laptop, cell phone, and other paid technology support. Employees may work from home after the initial training period one day per week provided they have stable Wi-Fi-connectivity, can ensure a professional at home workspace, and gain approval for the specific day off the week. Additionally, it is possible that after year one of employment the position will only be in the office one day per week, working from home for the remainder.
