Position Description:
The MNA Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of multimedia communications strategies that support and advance organizational goals and initiatives. This role supports MNA campaigns (union contract, political, and union organizing), builds member engagement, and helps ensure consistent, compelling messaging across messaging platforms. Core responsibilities include multimedia content creation, digital marketing and analysis to ensure effective messaging. The salary range for this position is $76,218 – $88, 229.
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with Communications team:
- Develop and implement digital communications strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Create, edit and publish engaging content for websites, blogs, email campaigns and social media platforms.
- Manage and grow social media presence across platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube).
- Create/design graphics, photos, videos, and other materials that support campaigns and general membership communication.
- Collaborates with communications staff and internal organizational teams (Education, Organizing, Legislation, Labor, MNA board and members), to support unified, consistent and effective messaging, asset production, and digital campaign execution.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications and division staff with developing broader digital communication strategies and outreach plans.
- Support media-related tasks such as preparing members for digital content production, interviews, coordinating press materials, and assisting with press outreach.
- Coordinate data collection and audience segmentation to improve message targeting.
- Monitor digital analytics and present reports on performance, engagement and reach.
- Respond to inquiries on social media and other digital channels in a timely, appropriate manner.
- Work with communication staff on production and development of the MNA podcast.
- Assist with special projects and collaborate with outside consultants or vendors as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Two to five years in communications, marketing, or campaign work experience.
- Digital/Creative Skills: Proficiency in social media platform management, email marketing, and basic CMS use. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and/or video/photo editing strongly preferred.
- Writing and Editing: Strong writing, editing, and content development skills across formats.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple collaborative projects and deadlines.
- Key Competencies: Strong organization, analytical thinking, attention to detail, ability to collaborate closely with others, and a demonstrated commitment to workers’ rights and social/economic justice.
- Social medial management experience within labor unions, advocacy organization or non-profit preferred.
