Amazon Labor Union Organizing Apprenticeship
Based in the New York City, NY Area
(must be willing to commute to Staten Island)
Come join the first Amazon Workers Union in the country! On April 1st, 2022 Amazon workers at the JFK8 facility in Staten Island made history by becoming the first facility to win a union vote against one of the richest, most anti-union corporations in the world. In December 2024 1000’s of Amazon workers across the nation took part in a historic Unfair Labor Practice Strike protesting Amazon's illegal refusal to recognize and bargain with union members. Today the legal and shop floor battle continues.
Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1 is looking for Apprentices ready to join the fight to win a contract at JFK8 and build the union. Apprentices should be excited about our three guiding pillars of Democracy, Solidarity, and Mutual Aid, and have a strong desire to listen to and learn from the workers leading this fight.
This apprenticeship will help you develop organizing skills through group and one-on-one mentorship, trainings, and direct outreach. Strong emphasis will be placed on field work. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to learn about and support other aspects of the union including mutual aid, communications, our unique grievances pre-contract system, data systems, and more.
No experience is needed, just a willingness to listen and learn and the fighting spirit to take on one of the world’s largest corporations. Language skills in French, Haitian Creole, Arabic or Spanish is a plus.
Hourly wage is between $18 – $25/hr.
Candidates must be willing to commute to Staten Island. While cars are not necessary, the commute from other boroughs without a car is generally 2+ hours, do not apply if this is not feasible for you.
