Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) is a non-profit labor union headquartered in Washington, DC. Founded in 1903, LIUNA has a strong history in the protection of laborers through wages and health and safety. LIUNA is seeking an Accounting Clerk to assist with the daily operations of their Accounting Department. This position that will primarily review expense reimbursements, purchase and sales invoices, and process monthly accounts receivable. The Accounting Clerk will report to the Accounting Manager. This position is based in the office with an opportunity to work one day remote based on performance. Competitive compensation and employer paid health insurance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Process expense reports (Concur and paper based)
- Prepare complex purchase invoices
- Prepare sales invoices
- Prepare reclass journal entries
- Assist with record retention and organization of historical records
- Back up processor for daily purchase invoices
- Prepare monthly Accounts Receivable statements
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of Concur
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central
- Understanding of IRS and DOL rules as it relates to expense reimbursements
- Interact in a professional manner with management, employees, and external parties
- Great communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, specifically Excel
- Good understanding of the general ledger structure and navigation
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see tasks through to completion
- Persistent, questioning attitude
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
- At least ten (10) years of experience processing expense reimbursements, accounts payable and accounts receivable
