Training Director
Training Trust
Based in Denver, CO
The IATSE Local 7 Training Trust is accepting applications for the position of Training Director. Please find a general description of this position below. The primary duties and responsibilities of the Training Director include but are not limited to:
- The day-to-day administration and operation of the Training Trust and oversight of staff and instructors
- Maintaining the records of applicants, apprentices, and journeyman level technicians within the Training Program
- Development of training budgets in coordination with the Training Administrator as well as presenting budgets for approval with the Training Trust Trustees.
- Proactively seek out and apply for grant opportunities to enhance training and support participant development
- Professional development: Attending training conferences and educational seminars related to the duties of the Training Director
- May be required to sit on local Workforce Boards
- Maintaining the training funds’ property, tools, and supplies
- Coordinate on the job training placements for apprentice level workers with signatory employers in conjunction with Local 7 dispatch.
- Provide apprentices and journeyman-level technicians with classroom and hands-on training in film, exhibition, and stagecraft disciplines (rigging, lighting, audio, video, carpentry, props, and related crafts, as applicable to the Local’s jurisdiction)
- Collaborate closely with the Training Trust Trustees, the State Apprenticeship Agency, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship, signatory employers and producers, IATSE Local 7 leadership, and the IATSE International Office (including the IATSE Training Trust Fund)
Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain industry-recognized entertainment technician certifications (e.g., ETCP Entertainment Technician Certified Professional in Rigging and/or Entertainment Electrician; OSHA 10/30; First Aid/CPR)
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License
- Must be willing to submit and pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Desired Qualifications
Education/Training
- Post-secondary education in administration, business administration, human resources, education, technical theater, or related experience
Experience/Knowledge
- Administrative experience in education or workforce training
- Program coordination, administration, or management
- Curriculum development and academic administration
- Familiar with competency-based learning models and registered apprenticeship standards
- Educational and apprenticeship government regulations (U.S. DOL Office of Apprenticeship, state apprenticeship agencies)
- Accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices
- Working knowledge of the live entertainment industry (theatrical, concert, convention, trade show, broadcast, and/or film production)
Skills/Abilities
- Organizational and time management
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and appropriately in written and verbal form
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential communications and material
- Proficient use of email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
- Ability to electronically access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others
- Leadership skills
