Campaign Coordinator
(Organizer III)

(Remote with some local and nationwide travel)
Summary: CWA Local 9009 is seeking an Organizer 3 to build power for workers who are organizing around specific issue-based campaigns at the workplace. The Organizer (Level 3) will work with Staff Organizers and members from around the country to develop unifying campaigns that will address issues that are widely felt throughout the workplace around the country. The ideal candidate will have experience in both ground organizing and mentorship of worker leaders and staff.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the Organizing Director, Board, and members to plan the direction of the campaign work at the Union.
- Lead organizing in specific regions as assigned.
- Work with specific ground turf depending on other campaign needs.
- Work with the Organizing Director to plan research needs to run an effective campaign.
- Advise staff on how to recruit, train and build strong and effective workplace organizing committees.
- Work with the Organizing Director to implement training materials for all staff and members including but not limited to organizing 101, organizing conversations, workplace mapping, leader identification, anti-union inoculation, labor law, etc.
- Facilitate and plan agendas for leadership training for Staff and members alongside the Organizing Director and Board.
- Participate in campaign analysis including potentially creating reports based on the successes and/or shortcomings of campaigns.
- Handle various administrative duties, including data management, and ensure that all organizers are capturing data in a uniform way.
- Manage schedules and calendars for the duration of each campaign.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Take a leadership role among staff on driving workplace issues and connecting them from the local to the national level.
- Work with the Organizing Director and the Board to plan issue-based campaigns.
- Work with the Organizing Director and the Board to calendar out campaign strategy, plans, and tactics.
- Coach and mentor staff on workplace organizing including but not limited to; challenges in unifying behind a widely felt issue, challenges hitting goals set by the organizing committee, role play structure and frequency, training on pivoting conversations to agreed upon campaign plans, etc.
- Work with the Organizing Director to set goals for each staff organizer for both their personal development and organizing committees.
- Ability to work well as a team member and lead a team of staff organizers and local member organizing committees.
- Experience with corporate campaigns and/or coalition building.
- Experience with NLRB election process.
- Complex understanding of Unfair Labor Practices and the ability to train members and staff on different types of violations of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
- Belief that workplace organizing is an essential part of social change
- Willingness to work long, irregular hours and evenings or weekends as needed
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience working as a lead on workplace organizing.
- Experience running long-term contract campaigns against adversarial employers.
- Experience brand busting large corporations with the purpose of improving working conditions or getting a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Proven experience mentoring worker leaders and staff organizers.
- Understanding of leverage and power as it relates to workplace organizing against large national corporate Employers.
- Familiarity with the tech industry.
Location and Travel:
- We are interested in applicants who live in or near metropolitan areas of New York City, Boston, Seattle or the San Francisco Bay Area. However, applicants who live near or are willing to relocate to a region with a high concentration of Alphabet workers are also encouraged to apply.
- Extensive travel within the United States and Canada is required to support union activities and campaigns.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range is $101,265 – $123,442, commensurate with experience and in compliance with the staff union collective bargaining agreement.
